Bots on the Blog

This week has been annoying. Bots seem to enjoy hitting my site now. It started with over 20,000 bots from China hitting me, they appear to be tied to Temu which has some sort of AI bot farm. Luckily, I am sitting behind Cloudflare and don't have to deal with it directly my myself.

Now I am getting sign ups from what clearly seems to be bots using spoofed emails or something. I'm not exactly sure what it is. I haven't had a lot of those but it's clearly not real people signing up.

I'm not sure what the point of it is. Maybe they will start to sign up as paid members and make themselves useful. Other wise, why bother.

From what I've read people use the bot to sign other people up for emails as a ploy to spam someone's inbox with mail as a distraction from whoever it is they are hacking.

I'm also glad I decided to run this site on a rented VPS server and not from home. If they try to hack me I can just nuke this server and start over. But they won't ever get onto my network at home.

On the plus side all of the fake web traffic and signups makes me feel special even if I know it's fake. Maybe one of the bots will read this.

Besides the bots nothing new and exciting is happening. I need to work on what I want to write about next, I just haven't found the inspiration yet.

Also that picture I chose for this post is weird as hell. Who took that picture and was like, "yea I nailed it." It's like some weird cat bot staring at an old man, presumably plot his death.

I fear the AI uprising is near.

Creepy update to this. As soon as I posted this, every bot subscriber account opened and clicked the links in the email many, many times.

What's weird and creepy about this is that the history for these accounts shows very little activity or any interaction with previous emails. As soon as I sent out an email about bots signing up for my blog they went haywire. It's like I said some secret phrase to active them.

I kind of want to make another post about bots and see what happens....
